Being a citizen of the Canary Islands is a sentiment that unites us. We are renowned for our kind and friendly nature, but just like everywhere else, on Lanzarote<\/a>, there are certain things that only true Conejeros<\/em> (the nickname for the island\u2019s residents) do. If you want to be one of us, you have to answer yes to at least 85 of the statements on this list!<\/h2>\n

  1. You had milk and roasted gofio<\/em> corn for breakfast.<\/li>\n
  2. Lunch is fish sancocho<\/em> with its corresponding green and\/or red mojo sauce.<\/li>\n
  3. You take a swim in the sea at Puerto del Carmen beach in mid-December
    \n    \"\"<\/a><\/li>\n
  4. You\u2019ve taken part in the Romer\u00eda de los Dolores procession.<\/li>\n
  5. You\u2019ve watched the Quemao Class surfing competition with your friends.<\/li>\n
  6. You\u2019ve tasted the wine at Bodegas de la Geria.<\/li>\n
  7. You haven\u2019t been on a camel ride in Timanfaya because \u201cthat\u2019s only for foreigners.\u201d<\/li>\n

  15. You are bound to have had coffee and churros for breakfast at the Fontanales coffee shop in Arrecife.<\/li>\n

  20. You\u2019ve debated with your friends about which Canary Island beer is the best.<\/li>\n

  22. You\u2019ve been to Las Curcharas beach to practise (or watch) kite-surfing.

  54. On Canary Islands\u2019 Day you suddenly get the urge to eat \u00a0mimos<\/em> and mantecados<\/em> \u2013 baked meringues and almond pastries.<\/li>\n
  55. You walked to Los Charcones, because, \u201cthere\u2019s no way I\u2019m taking the car down there\u201d.<\/li>\n
  56. After a day\u2019s rain, you\u2019re convinced Lanzarote has turned into the Amazon jungle.<\/li>\n
  57. You prefer to go to the cinema in El Charco so you can have a drink at a bar afterwards.<\/li>\n
  58. You exaggerate your \u201cCs\u201d as much as possible so everyone knows where you\u2019re from.<\/li>\n
