WHAT TO DO IN IBIZA IN WINTER

Did you know that Ibiza is a perfect destination all year round? In winter, the island reveals a different, quieter side. The beaches remain beautiful, the villages invite you to wander through them and the natural landscapes offer countless opportunities to explore and discover the island.

It’s a great time to visit more secluded coves, explore iconic landmarks such as Dalt Vila or Es Vedrà, enjoy hiking and cycling routes, browse local markets and sample traditional cuisine. Every corner offers something unique, combining history, culture and nature to ensure a well-rounded and memorable visit.

Enjoy nature

Vistas a Es Vedrà

One of the great advantages of visiting Ibiza in winter is the chance to enjoy its natural surroundings in peace and quiet. Coves like Cala Comte, Cala Salada, Cala d’Hort and Benirràs Beach offer a tranquil atmosphere, ideal for walking, taking photos or simply gazing out at the sea.

From Cala d’Hort, you can see Es Vedrà – a striking islet – and it’s one of the best places to enjoy the sunset over the water. The combination of sea, rock and light creates a unique landscape that leaves no one unmoved.

Winter is also the perfect time to explore Ibiza’s various hiking and cycling routes, thanks to its mild and pleasant climate. Some of the most recommended options include:

  • Es Broll de Buscastell route: A trail that winds through fields, pine forests and rural landscapes.
  • Northern coast of Ibiza: Cliffside paths and hidden coves that reveal lesser-known corners of the island.
  • Ses Salines Natural Park: Walks through salt flats and lagoons, home to migratory birds and native species – perfect for those keen to discover Ibiza’s plant and wildlife.
  • Almond trees in Santa Agnès de Corona: From late January to March, the fields are covered in white and pink blossoms. The almond blossom is one of the most photographed sights of the year and a must-see for any visitor.

In addition to these routes, Ibiza offers numerous natural viewpoints where you can enjoy the scenery from a different perspective. Walking or cycling along the island’s rural paths provides an opportunity to connect with Ibiza at a slower, more authentic pace, discovering hidden coves, small farmhouses and corners with spectacular views.

Culture and history

Dalt Vila, Ibiza

Ibiza isn’t just about beaches – its rich history and cultural heritage are also well worth exploring. In winter, it’s much easier to take your time and enjoy these places without the crowds.

  • Puertas de Can Soleil: Located opposite Es Vedrà, this is one of the island’s most photographed spots.
  • Stone circles of Cala Llentia: Also known as “Ibiza Henge”, this archaeological site offers a glimpse into the island’s ancient past.
  • Phoenician settlement of Sa Caleta: A UNESCO World Heritage Site that provides insight into Phoenician settlement in Ibiza and its historical importance.
  • Dalt Vila: The walled city is unmissable. Climbing up to the cathedral and wandering its cobbled streets offers panoramic views and a chance to admire the island’s historic architecture.

Outside the city, villages such as Santa Gertrudis de Fruitera, Sant Josep and Sant Joan retain a peaceful, authentic atmosphere. Their terraces are ideal for enjoying a coffee and soaking up local life. Gastronomy

Comida típica de Ibiza

Ibizan cuisine is one of the island’s main attractions during the winter. Many seafront restaurants, such as La Escollera and Jockey Club Ibiza, remain open, allowing visitors to enjoy traditional local dishes.

Highlights include:

  • Bullit de peix: A fish stew served with rice, usually accompanied by alioli. It is one of the island’s most iconic dishes and reflects Ibiza’s strong fishing heritage.
  • Sofrit pagès: A hearty dish made with chicken, pork and local cured sausages, along with potatoes and traditional spices. It’s a recipe that’s much loved by both locals and visitors.
  • Flaó: A typical dessert made with fresh cheese and mint, and in some versions, egg and sugar. A perfect way to round off a meal with an authentic taste of Ibiza.

In addition to its cuisine, winter in Ibiza is also a time for patron saint festivals and local markets. Villages such as Sant Antoni, Sant Agnès and Santa Gertrudis de Fruitera hold events featuring traditional dances, artisan stalls, live music and cultural activities. Taking part in these celebrations offers a unique opportunity to experience local traditions and discover Ibiza’s handmade products up close.

Where to stay

THB Los Molinos

To make the most of a winter visit to Ibiza, choosing comfortable, well-located accommodation is key. The island offers beautiful natural landscapes, traditional villages, open-air routes and delicious gastronomy – and staying somewhere well connected makes it easy to enjoy it all.

THB Los Molinos, set on the seafront, is an excellent choice for those looking to combine comfort, a convenient location and spaces designed for relaxation.

One of the hotel’s highlights is its wellness area, designed to offer moments of calm and rest after a day of sightseeing. It features a heated indoor pool, sauna and massage service – ideal for those looking to unwind and take care of themselves during their stay. Overlooking the garden, this serene space exudes tranquillity and comfort, providing the perfect contrast to active days spent exploring the island.

Thanks to its strategic location, relaxed atmosphere and thoughtful services, THB Los Molinos is the perfect base for experiencing the most authentic and comfortable side of Ibiza: strolling through historic villages, discovering hidden coves, browsing local markets, enjoying traditional cuisine and ending the day in a setting designed for well-being.
