MARCH
From March 2023 onwards, Lanzarote will become the centre of the surfing world, as the island’s beaches will be hosting the World Surfing Championship. This is a first-class sporting event, with champion surfers from around the world travelling to the island to compete for this prestigious title. MAY
On 20th May, Lanzarote will be the backdrop for one of the world’s greatest events: IRONMAN 70.3 Lanzarote. One of Europe’s longest-standing races, Ironman Lanzarote attracts athletes from all over the world, eager to compete on the island of volcanoes.
This is one of the toughest triathlon events in the world, and the athletes will have to complete swimming, cycling and running races. It is a test of endurance and determination, where participants have to demonstrate their very best form in order to overcome the challenge.
JUNE
The 25th Edition of the Island of Lanzarote Gymnastics Festival will be taking place on 4th June in Arrecife. Admission is free of charge on a first-come, first served basis, and dozens of gymnasts from the island’s schools and gymnastic centres will be taking part.
Other events scheduled for June include the Subida de Haría motor rally, which takes place in the municipality of the same name. Each year, more than 40 vehicles are registered to compete in this event.
SEPTEMBER
The 7th edition of the Tinajo You Trail will be held in the first week in September. This race takes place along the paths and trails in the municipality of Tinajo, set against a stunning natural background that is full of contrasts. There are various options, adapted for all abilities, with balanced routes covering 8, 14 and 31 km.
DECEMBER
A surfing and bodyboarding event is planned for December in La Santa: Quemao Class. This competition attracts some of the world’s top surfers, who will take on the wind and the waves to compete for this title. This is the perfect opportunity for adventure lovers to enjoy action-packed days filled with fun and thrills.
