DISCOVERING COSTA TEGUISE

Can you picture yourself gazing out over golden sandy beaches bathed by crystalline waters against a backdrop of a stunning volcanic skyline? This is no movie, dream or fairy tale. It’s a real place that you can discover for yourself when you travel to the island of Lanzarote

THB hotels discovered the delights of this destination years ago, thanks to our THB Tropical Island and THB Royal hotels in Playa Blanca, and the THB Flora hotel in Puerto del Carmen. So as you can see, we know what we’re talking about!

There has recently been a new addition to THB’s portfolio of hotels on this Canary Island, the THB Lanzarote Beach, in Costa Teguise. The perfect excuse to learn a little more about this area situated on Lanzarote’s east coast. You’ll find countless places of interest to explore and activities for all the family within easy reach of Costa Teguise. So will you join us on a tour of the area?

Playa de las Cucharas

Start your adventure in Costa Teguise by exploring the famous Las Cucharas beach. Renowned for its golden sands and crystalline turquoise waters, this beach is perfect for relaxing and spending a fabulous day with the family. Its crescent shape provides natural shelter from the sea breeze that makes it the ideal choice for swimming and enjoying water sports such as windsurfing, kitesurfing, standup paddleboarding and snorkelling. What’s more, summer lasts all year round on Lanzarote, which means that water sports are a great option at any time of year.

Pueblo Marinero

Designed by the famous local artist César Manrique, this picturesque complex offers a unique mix of traditional Canary Island architecture and a lively and welcoming atmosphere. The heart of Pueblo Marinero is its main square, surrounded by charming whitewashed houses, restaurants, bars and shops. Here, visitors can stroll around the cobbled streets and soak up the authentic atmosphere of a traditional Canary Island fishing village.

Jardín de cactus

This magnificent garden celebrates all the beauty and diversity of cacti, whilst at the same time highlighting the island’s unique landscapes. The garden boasts more than 1,400 different species of cacti from around the world, in myriad forms, sizes and colours. From tiny spherical cacti to majestic specimens rising up several metres in height, each plant in the garden is unique, offering a fascinating insight into the extraordinary adaptability and beauty of these plants. The aim of this project is to provide a unique space in which to celebrate the diversity of these plants, whilst at the same time promoting conservation and environmental awareness. The garden was also designed by César Manrique.

Montaña Corona

Its mountainous landscape is one of the most striking features of Lanzarote, which many compare with Mars due to its rugged landscape and relief. The most iconic point of the island’s volcanic system is Timanfaya, but we’ve come up with an alternative closer to Costa Teguise – Mount Corona. Rising up some 609 metres, this mountain is one of Lanzarote’s most outstanding and emblematic volcanic formations.  We strongly recommend taking a trip to the summit, where you can admire breathtaking views of the island, and also see the impressive crater. Apart from its natural beauty, Mount Corona also features a series of caves and lava tubes that are the result of the area’s volcanic activity.

Cueva de los Verdes

This volcanic cave is part of the system of tunnels and caves that weave and wind their way around the island’s northern region, formed by volcanic eruptions that took place thousands of years ago. What makes Los Verdes Cave so impressive is its size and intricate network of underground passages that extend for more than 6 kilometres. These passages were formed by the lava flow during volcanic eruptions and provide a fascinating glimpse of the Earth’s interior.

The cave is named after the Verdes family, the former owners of these lands. For many centuries, the cave provided the island’s inhabitants with a natural shelter that they used to take refuge from pirate attacks and also to store food.

Teguise

Teguise is an absolute must-see for everyone travelling to Lanzarote. Nestling in the heart of the island, this charming town stands out for its authenticity, traditional architecture and its relaxed and laidback atmosphere.

One of the most notable attractions of Teguise is its historic quarter, with its cobbled streets, paved squares and well-conserved historic buildings. If you’re planning to visit Lanzarote’s former capital, we recommend losing yourself among its narrow streets and discovering a variety of craft shops, fashion boutiques, art galleries and welcoming restaurants serving mouth-watering local delicacies.

Teguise

Have we managed to convince you? Don’t give it a second thought and plan your break on Lanzarote. We guarantee you won’t regret it. If you’d like more information about this destination and our hotels, visit us at thbhotels.com.
