Lanzarote is an ideal destination to visit with family at any time of the year thanks to its annual temperature averaging between 18º-24º.
In Lanzarote, not all plans have to be going to the beach or swimming pool at the hotel, as the island offers a great number of activities and excursions, which both adults and children will enjoy.

Do you want your trip to the island to be unforgettable? Here are the places where families visiting Lanzarote usually go:

– “El Bosquecillo” Viewpoint: located in the north of the island, in the valley of a thousand palm trees, El Bosquecillo is a beautiful place with spectacular views of the island of Graciosa and Famara beach, the colour contrasts the Volcanic soil while the colour of the sea is something you are sure to fall in love with.
El Bosquecillo is an ideal place for hiking with children. A perfect place to end up enjoying an afternoon of games and snacks on the tables and wooden benches.

– El Volcan de la Corona: A perfect walk to do with family. A very pleasant path between vineyards, fig trees and lava. At the top, you can sit quietly and enjoy the views.
To make the climb more enjoyable, you can play and see who finds more lizards along the way. Lizards are found all over the island, nearly as common as beaches, volcanoes and palm trees. If you feed them, you will be a friend for life.

– Famara beach: magic! Undoubtedly, it is the most spectacular beach in the municipality of Teguise. A long beach of perfect wave surrounded by imposing mountains of sparse vegetation and framed by blue skies and golden sands. In addition to spending a day playing on its 6 km of sand, the sportsmen among you might enjoy having a go at the water sports. You will find an area of beach bars where you can eat typical dishes such as potatoes with mojo and limpets.

– The Texas Ranch: a fun theme park, zoo and water park located in Tias, Puerto del Carmen. Decorated like the west, the Texas ranch is a perfect place to spend the day with the kids: animals (tigers, pumas, bison, sea lions, dolphins, crocodiles, raccoons, etc.) shows and a water park in the same enclosure.
Do not forget to bring a cowboy or Indian costume in your suitcase. More information here

– Aquarium: the largest aquarium on the Canary Islands, where children will enjoy typical species from the Canaries such as moray eels, sea bream or guilt-head bream, and tropical species with striking colours and various morphologies such as clown fish, anemones, dragon fish or puffer fish.
In the underwater tunnel you will walk a few inches from the dreaded sharks. Will you be able to count how many teeth they have?
In addition to 3 rock pools where you can play and get to know some species better, it is important to visit the ‘junk aquarium’ so that children are aware of the effects of pollution on marine ecosystems. More information here.

– Timanfaya National Park: Can you imagine going to the moon? The volcanic eruptions recorded between the years 1730 and 1736 covered the land with lava and ash, this gave an unusual and lunar appearance sprinkled with caves, cones and craters, which have not been altered by man.

The volcanic landscape of the Timanfaya, classified as a Biosphere Reserve, is unique. This excursion provides you with a one of a kind experience where you get to see first-hand the volcanic activity of the Mountains of Fire.
You can eat in El Diablo, a restaurant within the park that offers typical cuisine cooked using the internal heat that emanates from the land.

– Riding a Dromedary / Camel: A much more exotic way to visit the Timanfaya is to do it on the back of a camel or dromedary. A peaceful walk over the volcano, where you will enjoy an enviable panoramic view of the mountain of fire.
Do not forget to bring sun cream and a comfortable hat.
In case there was any doubt, we remind you that dromedaries have a single hump, while the camels have two.

– Underwater Adventure: Experience a dive aboard an authentic submarine that will take you about 30 metres under the uncharted waters of the Atlantic Ocean.
They allow you to record videos and take pictures. More information here.

– Aquapark Costa Teguise: the best way to cool down, have fun and enjoy a day of excitement is to do it between swimming pools and slides, which is why every trip with the kids must include a visit to a water park. The largest water park in Lanzarote is located in Costa Teguise, to the southeast of the island.
On top of all this, there is karting for children, a cinema and an adventure park with moving bridges, zip lines and obstacle courses. More information here.
