METEOR SHOWERS IN 2022 AND WHERE TO WATCH THEM
For many, watching a summer meteor shower of shooting stars has become something of a tradition. It’s definitely a great way of making lasting memories and enjoying all the beauty of nature during your holiday.
For those of you who are still unfamiliar with the calendar of astronomical events, this summer there will be Delta Aquariid meteor showers, as well as the better known Tears of Saint Lawrence or Perseids.
If this is the first time you will be admiring this phenomenon, follow these tips to guarantee a truly magical night:
- Stay away from towns and built-up areas. Avoiding light pollution is essential in order to enjoy the clear skies and maximum visibility.
- Give your eyes time to adjust to the darkness. Although it may seem obvious, many people forget just how important it is to let your eyes adjust to the darkness, as this will enable you to spot the stars when they appear.
- Take your time. It’s a question of patience. Enjoy the moment and give it time. The meteor shower will appear when you least expect it and you’ll realise that it was well worth the wait.
- Take a jacket. It may be summer, but in many places, the temperature drops during the night. As we don’t want you to have to go away disappointed at missing the spectacle because of the cold, take our advice and remember to take something that will keep you snug and warm.
- Be in the know. Read up on astronomy and find out about what you will be able to see during these nights. You’ll get so much more out of the experience that way.
