FROM AUTUMN TO WINTER: THE PERFECT SHORT BREAKS FOR HIKERS AND CYCLISTS

Soaking up the sunshine and enjoying a dip in the crystalline waters that bathe the shores of Majorca or Ibiza are activities that should naturally top our “Holiday To-Do” list. But what if you’re planning an autumn or a winter break?

The climate on both islands is similar to springtime in northern Europe, and you may even get the occasional day that is more in keeping with the summer season.

This post includes various activities for you to enjoy during the autumn and winter months in our three favourite destinations.

MAJORCA

HIKING IN THE SERRA DE TRAMUNTANA MOUNTAINS. The Serra de Tramuntana is undoubtedly one of Majorca’s greatest treasures. This mountain range stretches out along the island’s north-west coastline. Included on the UNESCO World Heritage list, it offers a range of routes that are perfect for discovering Majorca’s most precious natural jewel. In particular, we recommend the following:

  • The trail from Sant Elm to La Trapa
  • Puig des Galatzó
  • Formentor
  • Camí des Correu

CYCLING TOURISM AROUND THE ISLAND. Whether you’re an amateur or a professional, you’ll be keen to enjoy the experience of touring Majorca by bike. Considered by many to be Europe’s top cycling destination, it boasts countless routes that enable you not only to enjoy your favourite sport, but also to admire truly breathtaking scenery. Here are our suggestions:

  • From Port de Sóller to Sa Calobra
  • From Playa de Muro to Cap de Formentor
  • The inland circular route: Alaró – Orient – Bunyola – Alaró

IBIZA

MORE THAN 700 KILOMETRES OF CYCLING ROUTES. Ibiza boasts more than 20 perfectly signposted routes that will take you through delightful coastal and inland landscapes. Here are our recommendations:

  • From Santa Gertrudis de Fruitera to Es Broll
  • Cala Jondal, which includes the inland areas of San José as well as several of its charming beaches
  • From San Antonio to the Church of Sant Rafael

HIKING ROUTES ON IBIZA. Walking is the best way to enjoy the island’s most spectacular landscapes; during your route, you are likely to come across a picturesque cove or hidden beach. This is definitely the best time of the year to enjoy Ibiza at its most peaceful. Here are our top 5 routes:

  • Sa Talaia route
  • Route from San Antonio to Cala Salada
  • Pla de Corona walk
  • Santa Eulalia River
  • Portinatx Lighthouse

We can guarantee that if you follow any of the cycling routes suggested in this post you will immediately be smitten by both islands.
